The Tamkaliks Celebration (formerly Wallowa Band Descendants Friendship Feast & Pow Wow) is a celebration and recognition of the continuing Nez Perce presence in the Wallowa Valley. A standing committee of the WBNPTIC, Inc. oversees and organizes the Tamkaliks Celebration. The 2012 Tamkaliks Committee President is Brian Conner. September 28: Paint the Town
Local artists set up shop on main street and paint, draw or sketch scenes live while spectators can watch. There will be 10-12 local and visiting artists who will paint at various locations up and down main street from 10:00 - 2:00. A "Quick Draw" event  planned at 2:30 in the courtyard of Kelly's Gallery (103 N. Main) Joseph…local musicians will play again directly across the street from the courtyard.  This fast becoming a favorite!Art work for sale and other art related activities. October 2-6: Hop the Blues Shop Hop

January 23-26, 2013: Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race
We run 36 mile, 100 mile and 200 mile races. Our 200 mile race is Oregon's only Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier. The finish for both races is at Ferguson Ridge Ski area just a few miles outside of Joseph. There is an Awards Banquet open to the public. Alpenfest celebrates Swiss-Bavarian culture, cuisine and beverage in Oregon's Little Switzerland. July 13-20: SAGE BRUSH QUILT SHOP HOP 
Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Sunday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm During the SAGEBRUSH quilt shop hop, quilters will enjoy 9 great quilt shops throughout eastern Oregon. Two of the shops are located right here in Wallowa County!  Hoppers this year will be treated to lots of freebies including refreshments and free tote bags to the first 350 hoppers!  "Sagebrush" is again scheduled to include TWO WEEKENDS to give you & your quilting buddies more time to complete the hop.  Every "Hopper" that turns in a completed passport will be entered into the drawing for prizes galore, including the GRAND PRIZE of a heritage Singer Featherweight sewing machine!  For more information and to pick up a passport, which will be available just prior to the hop, contact shop.
