 Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race Jan. 25-28
This years' race and vet checks are January 25-28, 2012.  We run 36 mile, 100 mile and 200 mile races.  Our 200 mile race is Oregon's only Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier.  The veterinary checks are on Wed the 25th - morning in Joseph and afternoon in Enterprise.  The race starts on Thursday the 26th and runs through the 28th.  The finish for both races is at Ferguson Ridge Ski area just a few miles outside of Joseph.  There is an Awards Banquet open to the public on Saturday evening at the Joseph Community Center with music and dancing. Gather your quilting friends and "Hop" 12 wonderful shops in northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington, during the 12th Annual “Hop the Blues,” including two shops right here in Wallowa County.  Every shop will be filled with FREEBIES, wonderful samples, prizes, and lots of fabric for your quilting needs.  Pick up your passport, which will be available just prior to the hop at any of the participating shops. Nez Perce Art in the Wallowas TBA

The 15th Annual Nez Perce Art in the Wallowa, art show, silent and oral auction celebrates Nez Perce and Columbia Plateau tribal art and artist. Highlights include traditional beading, rawhide work, bronze sculptures, high-tech photography and paintings. Admission to the art show is free to the public. Saturday evening’s dinner and entertainment begins at 6:00 p.m. with BBQ salmon, local grown buffalo, local grown garden favorites, and huckleberry cheesecake. Native American performing artists are the top two hand drum contest winners from the 2011 Tamkaliks Celebration (pow wow), Francis Dionne and Chris Shorty. Tickets for the evening event are $45 per person.  Due to limited seating and sell-out crowds, we encourage you reserve your tickets in advance.
