Beautiful Chimney Lake is typical of many of the high mountain lakes in these granite mountains. This was taken from the south shore during one of the driest years on record. The hike is steep for the first three miles and then levels off somewhat. This trail is very rocky and narrow and should not be attempted on horseback unless you and your horse are experienced and well shod.
